Modern Dating Vocabulary Part 3

DTR or define the relationship — A conversation with the partner about the relationship, where it seems like both partners are on the same page. That means that there is an understanding about the label of their relationship status at that point in time. A lot can be said to define terms, but this one is very contextual for context with your partner.

DTF — DTF is an acronym that stands for “down to f***,” or in some cases, depending on the context, it can also be called “down to flirt,” which doesn’t have any negative connotation.

DFMO — DFMO is an acronym that stands for “dance floor make out.” It describes a situation when you are both dancing with each other, and you move your body against the other person’s body, which leads to kissing.

FWB — FWB is an acronym for “friends with benefits,” which states the nature of a relationship between two people who are not romantic partners or dating each other but have casual sexual relations.

FBO — Stands for Facebook Official. Having an FBO is the modern way of saying, “We are officially in a relationship, but we just won’t admit it yet.”

Feminist Boyfriend — A man that will respect you but won’t let you disrespect him. There’s a fine line between love and hate. If your partner respects you, he should also be able to take some criticism. If this isn’t the case, then there are problems either because of the relationship or with the person themselves.

Roaching — Similar to ghosting. A roach is someone who is in your life, but you aren’t present for their lives. They breathe the same air as you, but don’t really share anything with you. You’re just a placeholder until someone better comes along, or they get bored of you and move on to the next victim.
