Get those lips ready; July 6 is International Kissing Day. It may seem silly, but it is an actual day. Whether you are looking for a long make-out session or just a peck on the cheek, there is no reason not to celebrate. So show your love with an extra kiss on International Kissing Day.
Why Is This Even a Day?
International Kissing Day was started back in 2006 to honor kissing between lovers. However, don’t think that this means you can’t kiss anyone you love.
On the contrary, International Kissing Day celebrates kissing between people, family members, friends, or even strangers. Other countries like Greece and Italy use kissing to greet other people, similar to how we use handshakes in the United States.
So How Should I Celebrate?
If, for some reason, you need help knowing how to celebrate International Kissing Day, here are some ideas to get you ready:
- Kiss your partner as soon as you wake up
- Greet your friends with a kiss on the cheek. If they aren’t the type to be OK with this, kiss them on the hand.
- Mix up the way you kiss your partner. Try something new!
- Wear a shirt with a big pair of lips on it!
- Wish your friends a Happy International Kissing Day
So I Should Be Kissing Everyone Then?
No!! Make sure just because it is International Kissing Day, it doesn’t mean you can run around and kiss anyone. Always use discretion when giving away kisses. Just because you know it’s International Kissing Day doesn’t mean everyone is OK with being kissed or even knowing about the day.
When I doubt, ask. I know I can ruin the fun, but it’s better than getting a slap. Of course, no one wants a slap unless you are into that kind of thing. Happy International Kissing Day!
